The likely next leader of Brooklyn addresses rezonings, bike lanes and more.

It’s early in the afternoon. Too early to catch the group of mostly retired older men begin their dominoes tournament in the back of a Williamsburg bodega, according to Democratic Brooklyn borough president nominee Antonio Reynoso, who is translating for the Spanish-speaking owners.

Before coming to the convenience store, Reynoso told me that these private and illegal games – even though players are typically only betting for bottles of beer – are among his favorite things about the neighborhood where he grew up.
